We had made a decision at the PCC meeting of 30th
May 2006 that we would need to keep the church closed in view of the valuation
of the font (at between £40,000 and £100,000), pending enquiries to
Ecclesiastical Insurance over insurance cover.
SP reported that he had heard back from the
insurance company. The policy has been amended to cover the font (although the
premium is not affected).
There now seems no further reason to keep the church
closed. SP proposed that we reopen it during the daytime, as previously. TO
seconded; all agreed.
VS reported that he was going to apply to Wyvern
Environmental Trust for a further grant. Since they would only consider new
invoices (and most of the roof invoices are now old), only the final invoice
for architect's fees would be eligible. Applications for grant had to be in by
30th September, as the Trust was being wound up at that date.
With Wendy and John Cartwright now definitely moving,
we needed to be sure that all their duties had been explained and handed over
to DC and VS, preferably in written form for future reference at times when
temporary Treasurers were needed, as in times of holidays. CG had asked them
but it seemed best for DC and VS to deal with them directly.
